# Web Map Services

## XYZ Tile Service

If not stated otherwise, the layers are provided in EPSG:3857 projection. The request of tiles using a XYZ tile service is simply build by appending the service token to the general URL:

```http
https://p20.cosmos-project.ch/<SERVICE HASH>/Z/X/Y.png
```

Example for OpenLayers integration:

```javascript
import 'ol/ol.css';
import Map from 'ol/Map';
import View from 'ol/View';
import TileLayer from 'ol/layer/Tile';
import XYZ from 'ol/source/XYZ';
var map = new Map({
  target: 'map',
  layers: [
    new TileLayer({
      source: new XYZ({
        url: 'http://p20.cosmos-project.ch/<service URL>/{z}/{x}/{y}.png' +
      })
    })
  ],
  view: new View({
    center: [1008699,5900468],
    zoom: 8
  })
});
```

{% hint style="info" %}
ExoLabs is highly flexible regarding the offered services. If a specific service, projection, color schema, or else is needed, a tailored variant can be provided.
{% endhint %}

## WMTS / WMS

WMS and WMTS are available for most services. Example of GetCapabilities:

```http
https://p20.cosmos-project.ch/<SERVICE HASH>_map/wmts?service=wmts&request=getcapabilities&version=1.0.0
```

```http
https://p20.cosmos-project.ch/<SERVICE HASH>_map/wms?service=wms&request=getcapabilities&version=1.0.0
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://exolabs-ch.gitbook.io/cosmos/web-map-services.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
